open source projects till 3rd April, 2009.

Managers that can be installed to tailor your desktop. Jamie will talk
about the merits of Gnome, KDE, XFCE and Enlightenment window managers.

Advanced workshop: Drupal

Speaker: John Flower
8:30pm - 9pm

Drupal is a system for creating websites. John has been using it to
build a website for work (not yet live) and an unofficial Wiki for
helping people from Trade Me with computer questions. He will talk about
what makes Drupal good and how to setup a basic Drupal site:-


      * Installing Drupal
      * Creating a page
      * Installing modules
      * Creating a simple gallery
      * Installing and customising a theme

Here's some follow up notes from the Drupal talk I gave earlier this
week.


To run Drupal you'll need
Apache (or other web sever)
MySQL
PHP


Drupal can be downloaded from http://drupal.org/
Modules from http://drupalmodules.com/
Themes  from http://drupal.org/project/Themes


To create the demo website shown on the night you'll need Drupal 6 the
following modules
DHTML for sliding menus - http://drupalmodules.com/module/dhtml-menu
Fast Gallery for displaying your pictures -
http://drupalmodules.com/module/fast-gallery
Lightbox2 for showing your picture fullsize with the background faded
out - http://drupalmodules.com/module/lightbox2


For SEO, meta tags can be added using the
http://drupalmodules.com/module/meta-tags module.


There's a Drupal demo site at http://www.opensourcecms.com/cms/drupal/.
You can have a play with creating content and customising. However the
site doesn't allow you to install modules or themes.
Username = admin
Password = demo.


The unofficial Trade Me Wiki site I created can be found at
