Also check out xrandr - I had all sorts of problems with Xinerama trying to
get a dual head setup working on a Dell laptop (intel graphics), and when I
finally got it going, opengl wouldn't work on either screen. Xrandr seems a
lot lighter weigth than Xinerama, but does the business. It's easy to set up
utilities to switch configurations too, or you can log out/in and it sorts
it out.
