Hi,
Just wondering if anyone here has had experience using a SMC ADSL Router in
half bridge mode.
I've just replaced my (unstable) Dynalink RTA230 with a SMC ADSL Barricade
SMC7904BRA2 router (which I have found to be very reliable in the past). I
had my Dynalink configured and working in half bridge mode (PPP IP extention
I think they called it), where it handed my WAN IP over to my embedded Linux
box (DHCP), which handles all the NAT / Firewall functions for my network.
This has worked well as it offloaded most of the work from the ADSL Router.
Unfortunately I cannot seem to find any settings for half bridge mode in my
new SMC Router, though I can set, RFC1483 Bridging/RFC1483 Routing/IP
over RFC1483
Bridged, however I cannot dial a PPPoA connection on my Linux box, only
DHCP/PPPoE/PPPTP, so these modes don't seem that useful?
Any help would be appreciated.
Liam
