Well ... finally got to use an external mic on that laptop, and it
works. I am inclined to believe that the internal mic is simply broken.
So I'll mark that one as fixed - with a consumer warning that it is
delicate.

Also - the optical drive has stopped working.
So this thing is headed back to the shop soon.

No word from that acer guy re. the oem image. All we can do is *offer* -
possibly Vik may have better luck.

Considering that there is actually very little to do to get everything
going with Hardy - is there any point remastering the install CD?

Only outstanding issues are the modem and suspend-to-ram.
