[nzlug] hardy broke me baby...

Well I've finally done it. I upgraded my system to Hardy.
Everything seems to have gone fine except.... x is broken.
While I was using vesa drivers before the upgrade, specifying vesa as
the driver in xorg.conf results in it not working.
I've found that if I remove the driver line entirely, it does start
but will not let me switch to a console with the ctrl-alt-F[whatever]
combination. To get back to console I've found that I have to edit
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and specify the driver as vesa again and then log
out (effectively restarting the x server) before things go really
funky and I'm unable to see anything at all on the screen.
Any debugging tips would be appreciated.
Regards,
Nevyn.
