Working for Microsoft (was Re: [nzlug] Linux-friendly banks in NZ?)

Volker, I know you probably meant it as a joke, and it is framed as an 
aside, but for the record, I do not work for Microsoft, and my 
employment is currently 100% Linux. (Mostly DeadRat, some Debian).

My background, though, has been strongly Microsoft, and I was *honoured* 
to have been a Microsoft MVP for three years.

I can see both sides. If it were not Microsoft, who would it be? Would 
Linux now dominate the corporate world, or would it be an IBM, or an 
Oracle, or some other closed source vendor? My money is on some closed 
source vendor holding the place that MS does.
