G'day everyone,
A few posts lately have indicated it may be timely for a reminder to all
NZLUG participants to be considerate of your fellow list user.
In particular of note:
- Let's try to remain on-topic here. We are a Linux Users Group and
discussions should primarily be of a Linux-related nature and generally
speaking, more of a technical bent.
---- There are other forums suitable for the discussion of the more
political aspects of what goes on, including the NZOSS OpenChat list.
There has been a reasonable overlap of participation in the past, and
we're a cooperative bunch, so lets try to keep the focus where relevant.
---- Not averse to expanding our sphere of involvement, but lets be
reasonable. ;-)
- Note that NZLUG is a list with a nationwide target audience. If your
enquiry has a geographic nature, first check for a local LUG list and
consider if your contribution would be more appropriate. A list of
regional lugs is maintained at http://www.linux.net.nz/node/view/11
- Please keep quoted material down to that relevant for your response. An
entire multi-page correspondence history when you're adding 2 or 3 lines
is probably not proportional. Especially where a half a page of that is
historical message footer tags....
- I draw your attention to the Acceptable Use Policy documented here:
http://www.linux.net.nz/node/view/127
- I would invite people with queries to hit up the Archives of the list (
http://www.linux.net.nz/pipermail/nzlug/ ) and also the Wiki (
http://wiki.linux.net.nz/ ) and in particular, if you have information
that may be of value to the community, consider publishing it to the Wiki.
This is kindly hosted by the Waikato LUG and is an excellent resource,
which we'd obviously love to see be maintained and updated.
If updates, additions, deletions of the NZLUG Website come to light,
please drop Scott, Nic or myself a line and we can make changes as
appropriate.
Cheers all
Mark.
