I have received a chain e-mail from the child cancer foundation
(genuine, not a spoof) because they thought that would be a good way to
get more donations.

Dunno - in my last crisis, txt turned up very useful. IMO: more useful
than voicemail for leaving messages. Particularly urgent - and cheaper
than a cell call.

txt spammers get blacklisted, not needed the whitelist - yet.

Each communication method has it's uses.
txt for short messages which are urgent.
email for longer non-urgent messages
voice for when a discussion/negotiation needs to happen at the time of
contact.

so a typical voice call starts with a txt received "call me asap".
