Good to know - from what you did, either the realtek part is now sort-of
supported or something else.
Which entry shows up in the volume control dialog? The OSS or the Alsa
one? If the OSS one, use the file menu > change device to select the
alsa one.

There's normally something to boost the mic - look at your volume
sliders, one of them affects gain.

Get this to a useable state and you can call Acer support again and
skite!
