[nzlug] SansOS Laptops Update?

I discovered, shopping around, that you can persuade 2nd hand dealers to
sell you OS-less at a discount, especially if you catch them when
they've just wiped a whole lot but before theyve put the OS back.
Discounts increase for bulk orders... bulk = 3.

Retailers you can forget about. For laptops which have never seen
Windows, you need the assembly places. They will often let you have one
off their production line.

Trouble is, it is usually possible to get a good laptop with the tax
which is cheaper than a lower spec OS-less machine. Economy of scale -
perhaps?
