I use S3 for backups using my s3cmd tool: http://s3tools.logix.cz/s3cmd

I have also played with EC2 for a while but at the end have chosen a
classic hosting for the project I was working on. Unless you need the
virtually unlimited scalability I don't think it's worth the effort
going the EC2 way.
