Simple:

> rpm -q --queryformat '%{LICENSE}\n' syslog-ng
GPL v2 or later

Red Hat has had it for many years. Given that the old syslog can't sort
things by originator (ok sort of) but only by facility and level my vote
is on retiring the inadequate and moving on.
