Heres the latest news on the Draytek Vigor 110:
The Vigor 110 is currently available, as you have noticed in the UK, and
some places in South Africa, but a minimum order is 1000 units. They are
mainly being sold to ISP's to bundle with connections (Would be a damn
sight better than the Dlinks telecom are providing) and they would also
need to be telepermitted in NZ.
The Vigor 210 will be available estimated Q4 (so late this year) and
will be able to be ordered in 20-30 units, so they will be available in NZ.
Our supplier is hesitant to purchase 1000 units of the 110, which would
take over a year to sell, when the 210 is not really that far away. They
don't want to be sitting on old stock of the 110 when the newer and
probably better 210 becomes available. And I don't blame them.
Part of the reason for the the large minimum order is the manufacturing
of the 110 has been outsourced to an OEM manufacturer. The 210 Draytek
will be producing themselves.
Research I have done so far, shows the DV2700e supports PPPoE to PPPoA
bridging. You can enable PPPoE Pass-through so that clients plugged into
the LAN interface can authenticate directly using PPPoE and I assume the
2700 does
the PPPoA conversion for you...
We are getting one of the DV2700e's to trial this feature to prove
beyond doubt that it does what we want it to do, from a Linux
perspective. Will report back with details.
Cheers,
Jack
