[nzlug] Ubuntu and Video Drivers

G'day guys

The latest round of Ubuntu (8.04) updates killed video on my Compaq 
Deskpro EN - it now won't run above 800x600. I've been running it at 
1280x1024 (I think; at least 1152x864) and dropping this low is painful. 
Even worse that some dialogues (like the screen resolution changer within 
the Gui) are bigger than 640x480 (when experimenting with screen res, I 
nearly lost the means to change it back...)

Anyhoo anyone got any thoughts on this?  Ive not had to butcher my install 
from CLI yet, this will likely be a first...
