Thanks for those .. 

Yeah when you query internally the correct results are returned, its
only when you query via another external / remote host it stops.

IE: 

dig @localhost 
dig @machinename

or dig from another machine on the same subnet, if you do it away from
it's 192.168.x.x address, it returns the incorrect results..

BUT.... there are now views and so both should be correct.

The serial numbers are being bumped up each time, and I can see the
slave be notified of the zone update, and it starts an AXFR and the
physical file gets updated...

It's only when you query.....
