Well, including the parking hunt at the destination 30 minutes from e. g.
Albany just doesn't do it. And I've had VERY bad experiences with parking
hunts around UoA and AUT in CBD in the past. And that's what I keep hearing
from people here at Massey, that those are the reasons they rather not go ...

You've got a point there. Maybe an interleaving cycle between the "central"
and regional ones would be an alternative. Especially, as I guess that a
local platform (especially @ uni) would be rather beneficial for "the
purpose".

Just saying, mostly I've failed at that. Just looking for alternatives to get
a broader involvement of people that I could definitely see as being
potential participants. But I'm pretty sure, that the ones who've been active
so far would try to "make it" wherever it is, at least as long as it'll be
roughly along the lines of convenience as it currently is.
