I think Ubuntu puts effort into eye candy, *and* drivers :) I haven't had any 
undetected hardware in the latest release, from 4 different sound cards (one 
of which is USB), to a MIDI keyboard (plug and play with rosegarden), SD card 
reader on my laptop, and so on.
