Hiho,
I have just assembled a computer with parts from the local recycling
centre for a total of 17 (seventeen) dollars. It's a Pentium II based
A-Trend mobo with 192 MB of ram and an old AGB Nvidia Vanta card.
I had an old 5 Gig hd lying around and rigged it all up and
surprisingly it works well.
The person this little machine is for is completely computer
illiterate (I work with her, so I know) and can barely find the
Windows 'start' button. Hence I decided agains Damn Small Linux,
GEubuntu or Puppy and went for Xubuntu.
The GUI is so simple that even she will able to use it, it will be
easy to remotely administer and Xfce works well under Envy with that
old Nvidia card.
While I prefer DSL myself, it's GUI is hopelessly complicated (even
4+) for non-geeks.
