Something that will run OpenWRT... like a linksys WRT54G* (and turn
off the wifi bits if you don't want them). Some of the supported
devices have USB ports for things like print servers or HDDs. They run
SSH servers, OpenVPN servers, etc fine (for a few users).

I actually have one (WRT54GL?) with an older version of OpenWRT on it
if you want... not sure what they're worth but have a look at trademe
and contact me offlist if you're interested (Auckland).
