I've been running MediaWiki on a reasonably busy public site for a
few years and can vouch for the fact that:
- it is well maintained, supported, and documented
- upgrades are relatively simple
- administration, backups etc. are simple using your usual tools for
the Wiki system, configuration and images, and a MySQL database dump
for the content
Yes, it's written in PHP, which tends to make me nervous, but it
appears to be _well_ written in PHP.
