IIRC a modern version of Knoppix will recognise them. Otherwise it's down to hacking the mirrors separately. I have done this in desperation before - booting into single user mode changing the root=/dev/md2 to /dev/sda2, and adding init=/bin/bash *should* work.

But I'd try the live cd first!!! The hacking above's a last resort only.
