[nzlug] Where to start... where to start...

I was pretty much 100$ Linux for over 6 years, then had to resort to Windows
for (easy/ simple / fast) video editing and other multimedia tasks. All the
Linux video editing software I tried either seg-faulted immediately or was
impenetrably obtuse as far as actually using it was concerned. Cinelerra
came the closest, but the sound was messed up on all attempts and it could
read only a limited number of video formats. Too hard.
So now I use Windows as my main system on two PCs and one laptop, while
Linux isued mainly for surfing the web, e-mail and burning CDs / DVDs of
photos from my digital camera and videos made on Windows.
If Linux had something as simple and easy to use as Windows Movie maker,
that would be good enough for me.
