"Palladium" (AKA Trusted Processing Module) is an industry standard and MS
is only one of the voices on the committee. I attended an interesting talk
by a chap from University College, London, last year, about TPM. He's an
advisor, and said that despite all the conspiracy theories about MS using
it to lock out OSS it's actually impossible for any company to do that
because the standard is open. Plus the likes of IBM are also on the TPM
committee, so best of luck to MS trying to push anything through that
would lock OSS out of the x86 (or any other) platform.

So whilst it's indeed valid to criticise MS for Office XML, monopolistic
practises, and a bunch of other things, TPM is not one of their evil plots
to bring about the end of the world as we know it.
