I'm just wondering - should we not create a base install image for
this laptop using the configuration this thread has used to get the
laptop fully functional?
Looking at the DunLUG Wiki page it gives suggestions on how to fix a
few issues to do with the image that currently comes with the laptop
but things like converting a ext2 partition to ext3 shouldn't even
come into it. Hell, given that hardy is coming out very soon (I'm
starting tests on vm's for my migration path now) should we perhaps
make the image, and start testing it on one of these laptops?
If we can provide full documentation on what needed to change a base
install and an image file for installation to prove that the
documentation works, we're very likely to find Acer amendable to any
such co-operative ventures and lending of laptops to test, thus
avoiding Linux getting a bad rap due to insufficient research and
implementation.
