[nzlug] Changing mount permissions

I have an external harddrive that I'd like to be shared when it's turned on. 
However, Ubuntu mounts it with a umask of 077, which means only I can see it. 
How do I tell the system to mount it with a umask that makes files readable 
to everyone?
