Well... installing the hsf driver (via installer) has disabled sound. As
in - no soundcard detected.

I can use the restricted drivers manager to disable the connexant
controller, reboot, no difference.

alsamixer says no default device to open
asoundconf list returns nothing.

dmesg is returning unknown symbol errors for snd-hda-intel - what *have*
they done...

<sigh> now what?
