Frankly I feel that if you are doing a radio broadcast it is extremely 
unlikely that the built in mic on any laptop will give good enough 
results. I wholeheartedly recommend a USB headset such as the ones 
commonly used for skype orother voip sessions. A noise cancelling mic 
will do wonders. It has its own built in usb-audio sound chip which are 
almost always compatible with linux. The drivers are in the kernel. 
There are many podcast "howtos" on the net that will give a good idea of 
suitable hardware.
