Given that it's essential for me to be able to record sound for my 
community radio broadcasts I may have to do that. But I like the  
idea of being able to demonstrate that you can get a new non-Windows 
laptop that works at a low price.

Yes, they work OK.

Hmmn. Something like that might be an answer for me, although USB 
pods seem to cost $80 or $90 and up.

I'm pretty happy, although it slows to a crawl if I have Open Office 
and Opera open at the same time.

I agree. And it looks as if Lee Blom of Acer wants to be helped.
