Sounds good. However, I think the fix is to use a different laptop. I'll
be testing the range of sound options tomorrow... have you tried the
headphones? I also have a usb webcam that has a mic which registers as a
different soundcard.

Overall... I suspect that anyone coming off XP to this will find it
quite comfortable. The default UI is extremely snappy and the boot, once
netboot is disabled, is less that 30 secs. (power-on to desktop)

DSEs 30-day return must be quite an incentive to give it a try. And
offering a laptop is the right move - no extra messing about with
periferals, cables and stuff.

The combination should tempt people hanging on to XP due to the mac and
vista costs.

Delivery is less that stirling and this particular laptop is less than
ideal. But it's a toe in the water. And I see the community is right
behind them on this one. I think the tone we *want* is "we want to help
make your product sell better".

Note: Acer seem to be offering this in Oz too, also other laptops in
other countries.
