I called DSE Manukau about being locked out of my computer - the third
person I spoke to said to bring it back to the store so they could "do a
recovery" on it.

The guy, who refused to identify himself, said that the person who did
the RAM upgrade on that computer probably (i.e. he didn't know) booted
it up to "make sure everything is all right".

But surely there is a RAM-check in POST? Why install a user? Why not do
the recovery right away?

Technical questions are to be put to the DSE Super Center thingy.

The user that was installed was called "DECA Training". Turns out there
is a company of that name not too far from DSE in Manukau. I asked about
this and was told "I was not the person who did the upgrade, so I don't
know about that."

The actual username was deca05 - suggesting that this was the fifth
laptop configured for use by DECA Training?

I suspect that my brand-new lappy ain't so new after all. What is DSE
policy concerning reselling returns?
