I'm saying the email address that your email is seen to come from (however
it may be created) should be valid (by virtue of being
@a-domain-that-exists-and-has-an-MX) and ideally should be checked. This
means you'll see bounces.
I'm not suggesting it should be any particular domain - though if you own
one, it'd seem clever to perhaps use a subdomain of it for your home
system....
to give you an example,
My Colo's hostname is maverick.blakjak.net, which has a valid MX (no MX
for the subdomain 'maverick' but a valid A record for maverick exists;
this host runs an MTA.) If an email generated by
$DAEMON at maverick.blakjak.net is pushed out to the internet, the domain is
going to pass any (sane) checks as to its validity.
