May I suggest Enlightenment as a window manager and GUI? Pretty zippy  
stuff.

And if you're in frugality mixed with perfection, I would suggest Damn  
Small Linux. All the linux you will ever need in a tiny but very  
functional package.

....and don't worship any other, non - Debian derived distro's. They are  
false, evil distro deities.
