Hear, hear! I used to run a headless server in my house. I had my main
KDE desktop for email, wordprocessing etc. running on the server. I ran
VNC full-screen on a laptop in the house. Actually, we had several
laptops in different rooms, so I could move from room to room and keep the
same session.
At work I ran VNC over ssh in a window on my desktop. This meant I could
(securely) access all my email and documents at home in the same way as if
I *was* at home, and it wouldn't interfere with anything running locally.
It ran at an acceptable speed (just don't do video!).
