[nzlug] OT: Maori accents in LaTeX?

You've seen the LaTeX solution. In general, it is acceptable to use an
umlaut instead of a macron - common where the font doesn't support one -
and you can leave it off altogether where the context makes the meaning
clear (i.e. almost all the time).

For formal stuff, like what you have in mind, it is usually good
etiquette to include the macron. Though, there was a time (eg. when *I*
learnt Maori) when it was considered boorish or anal to *insist* on it.
