OK, so it acutally IS booting. It just fails at some point within the process.

I could imagine as they're optical SATA drives, maybe the live system's 
detection logic wants to re-mount a SATA drive read-writable, but as it's an 
optical one, it fails. Can you tell exactly what the last messages on the 
screen are before/when it fails? Is it "talking" about re-mounting?

Just a wild guess ... wouldn't know how to solve it though ... maybe someone 
else has got an idea.
