I can highly recommend the Dvorak Keyboard layout.

I switched early in my programming career after a bout of wrist pain and
have never looked back.  My typing got faster and more comfortable
immediately, and the wrist pain only flares up again if I'm silly enough to
play a marathon Team Fortress 2 session without any breaks...

The process of switching is frustrating for the first few weeks, but well
worth the pain -- and it's *always* fun watching the building confusion when
the unsuspecting sit down in front of your computer and try to type in a URL
or something!
