That often happens if you have not updated recently - i.e. your local index
has a reference to a file that has been superceded in the repository (due to
an upgrade of that package)
And indeed there's been a new kernel recently :-)
So, apt-get update regularly, especially before apt-get upgrade
As an aside, there's a nice convenience package "apticron" that will update
daily, and email you information about the waiting upgrades. Not the only
way of doing the job - in fact I quite like "apt-get update && apt-get
--download upgrade" as that'll do all the bandwidth hit over night, leaving
me to approve the actual installation later.
