Interception at the ISP != searching your home computer. I also think it
has to be certain *types*
of pornography (animal, child and rape or something to that effect). I'm
pretty sure those downloading
"stewardesses in heat" #35 through #90 (thanks Bill Hicks) can rest easy.
The privacy act extends to everybody in different ways. It prevents, for
example, reverse lookups on
phone numbers. It prevents you (or is supposed to) finding out the name
of a passenger on an aircraft.
It prevents your local pharmacist from dropping your name in to a
conversation regarding any health
issue (or one that might be more familiar - Dr Dirk, you'll know this
one - software developers and/or
support staff who have to dial in to computer systems at medical
practices to fix the software/run
corruption checks/correct patient data/apply updates etc)...
It can be a complicated one, the old privacy act, but if you play it
right, you could use it to your
advantage.
