A couple of other points: apt-proxy behaves badly if one of it's backend
sources is faulty - it will spend ages trying to connect to the faulty one.

I've also seen problems where apt-proxy on etch fails if you are
connecting to it with a sarge machine, due to apt repository keying
issues I think. I solved it by getting apt (and apt-key) from backports
for the sarge box, but I couldn't be bothered doing this for all my
machines so I reinstalled the apt-proxy xenU as sarge and started again.
