My Desktop motherboard has stopped working for Serial USB mouse keyboard.
(Soltek sl65me 866 PIII windows me and ubuntu 6.06)
I still want to finish an access DB before abandoning VB6 Office 2000
access etc.
I went to get an upgrade box but was told ME is 16 bit and the current stuff
is 32/64.
I just will not buy XP or Vista. I do not even want to do an ME reinstall
if I can help it. (Lots VB addins etc which could be hard to locate).
My ME is on a separate 40g HD and I was actually using a 80gHD which
I had cloned it to. (to avoid needing to reinstall on HD death)
I can think of several possibilities to solve this problem.
(Second hand computer, repair of mother board
transfering bits to a PIII box that I have etc)
It occurred to me it might be possible to run the ME etc in a VM
in an upgrade box - from its own HD. (A linux box)
Does anyone know if this makes sense?
(Are there good linux 16 bit Intel VMs?)
Or have any other good ideas?
