No, because the problem was only to get some data onto the old HDD,
and I did that by booting from a USB key copy of Voyage, rather than
the Feisty LiveCD.

Therefore I don't necessarily have to spend more time debugging the
Ubuntu-specific problem unless I do it to benefit Ubuntu rather than
myself.
