So, you mean that sometimes the interface with MAC address BADCAFEF00
is on eth0, and sometimes on eth1?
You can fix that with the /etc/iftab file, as I understand things.
Just say "eth0 BA:DC:AF:EF:00" and that'll force the assignment.
