YMMV - I run Ubuntu on a number of servers and couldn't be more happy.  It's
Debian but with newness.  It's got enough people targeting things at it
(especially if you run a LTS release) that there will be packages/backports
for everything that it doesn't have.

As for Nevyn's other question, if you're careful, you can crossgrade Debian
to Ubuntu.  The careful part is you need to make sure you get the newer
Ubuntu versions of everything - Sarge to Dapper is possible, for example,
but Etch (now) to Dapper (June 2006) won't work unless you tell it to
reinstall everything.
