I do exactly the same, with a WRT54GL (if you are buying onenew, get this, 
it's specifically the older version with more RAM and EEPROM than the current 
regular ones). Better still shop around a bit and look at the DD-WRT forums, 
etc, and see what they recommend. They have a section where they rank the 
various models, and there are some that have significantly more RAM/ROM than 
the GL which you will be able to use for more advanced stuff (my GL installs 
DD-WRT with about 60Kb to spare, enough for a few scripts, but that's about 
all)
