That's already happening; changes to the OS clock are usually written
back during a shutdown script calling hwclock - I think there's an
/etc/init.d/hwclock.sh on Ubuntu.
As long as your UTC data is correct (because you're running NTP
hopefully) then I think I'm introducing a red herring :-)
