Then the link is wrong. I have been booting from a reiserfs filesystem
for almost a decade, and reiserfs was always a module, with both lilo
and grub. The trick is to use an initrd which includes the filesystem
modules needed for /, /sbin, /bin. These initrd files are created
automatically for me each time there is a kernel update. There's a
script for it called  mkinitrd.
