I'm considering Skype because of the cheap call rates, and the expectation
of adequate call quality. However it's closed, and devices that talk Skype
tend to be Windows-driver-only ...

The SIP marketplace seems to be all over the place regarding call rates;
I've found voipbuster.com that looks cheap; but I don't know how their
quality will work out - if I understand SIP services, all calls have to go
to their endpoint first - will that work well from NZ? I guess I'll try the
softphone first.
