Agreed - this is why I use Seagate disks on my server at home.  I can do 
a quick test when they fail in software raid to decide if I can remove 
and use in a different non server machine, or if they are completely 
dead and need to be RMA'd. 

Knowing that if it fails Seagate's own test utility that I will receive 
another HDD (if in warranty period of course) is of huge benefit.
