[nzlug] Ubuntu bootup problem - any suggestions

Probably best at this point to omit the splash option anyway so that
you can see what's going on. I.e. when booting without the splash
screen it'll let you knows what step it's doing. An idea of when it's
crashing at this point would be prudent.
