[nzlug] Ubuntu bootup problem - any suggestions

Hi Jubal,

What sort of video card have you got? There was a problem not too long
ago with ATI video cards. Not sure if it's been fixed but the interim
solution was to turn off the splash screen when booting.

In other words, press esc to get into the grub menu. Hit 'e' to edit.
Find the line that starts with kernel, hit 'e' again and delete the
word splash from the end. Once you're in you should be able to edit
/boot/grub/menu.lst to fix this if this has turned out to be the
problem.
